Tuesday Recap: Hitmen Win Close Game-Ice Holez Impress

The newly formed Buffaloes faced a tough task in their first contest of the season. They were up against a highly skilled Ice Holez club that scored 3 goals in the first 5 minutes of the game en route to a 9-1 victory.

The Buffaloes need some time to get their line combinations together but vow to put up a better fight in their next contest.

The Ice Holez were led by Justin Bast's hat trick and a 4 pt effort (1g,3a) from Rob Seramba. The Buffaloes lone goal and the first in their short history was scored on a breakaway by Greg Jones.

The second game of the evening was a great adult league battle between the Summer Champions, the Hitmen, and the Shamrocks. The Hitmen escaped with a 5-4 win after a late goalmouth scramble saw the Shamrocks have 4 quality chances with their goaltender pulled for the extra attacker.

Hitmen forward Larry Walck scored the game winner with 6:36 remaining in the third off assists from Mike Greenspan and Scott Palfreyman. The Shamrocks were led by Scott Versace who scored 2 goals to go along with one assist.

Even in the loss Shamrock captain Mark Ganter commented "That was a great game. That's what we were hoping for in this league."

Both games on Tuesday provided spirted play and sportsmenship with only one minor penalty called total in both games combined. (And only one or two- "hey ref, where's the call" comments).

Next up a Thursday matchup between the Predators and the Buzzards at 9:15pm. Good seats still available!!
