Buffs Can't Save Game

The Buffaloes had plenty of skaters on the roster-unfortunately none were goaltenders. Scoring 7 goals may have been enough on most nights but with a 6 skater acting as netminder the Buffaloes allowed 13 Hitmen goals.

"It was dissappointing" said Hitmen forward Drew Cambell. "Its no fun when there is no goalie on the other team. Even if you win." added league director Bill Auld.

The Hitmen were led by a 4 goal night by Patrick Alvin.

So hopefully the Buffaloes will find the missing Romano in time for their Monday matchup vs the Free Agents.

The Buffaloes had a high scoring night of their own led by 2 goal nights from Charles Nerback Alex Miragaya and Captain Bobby Campi.

Summer Season Opens With Shootout

I would like to officially welcome all of our Aspen Ice Adult Hockey League players and fans to the AIAHL official blogsite. Visit the blog to see league news, writeups and boxscores for league games, standings and stats. Everything AIAHL!

The Summer season started out in grand fashion as the newly formed Buffaloes faced off against the veteran Hitmen franchise. Early on the Hitmen saw they had an uphill battle as their short bench was put up against a full Buffalo contingent. The first goal of the new season was tallied by Hitmen forward Patrick Alvan just 55 seconds into the contest. The Buffaloes answered soon after when Chris Melchione beat the Hitmen netminder for the first ever goal scored in Buffalo history.

The Buffaloes carried the lead for most of the contest but with 1:04 left in the regulation play Hitmen forward Alvan scored his second of the night to tie the game at 6. And just like that the newly instituted shootout rule would be put to the test in the very first game of the season.

Scott Palfreyman and Patrick Alvan scored on the first two Hitmen attempts which was countered by only one Buffalo tally by Tom Stryker. As a result the Hitmen were able to claim the win and the first two points of the AIAHL Summer 2010 season.
